LEA India had been retained as a Project Management Consultant for four lanes of the same Ahmadabad-Mehsana highway in the early 2000s and had successfully provided the services during implementation. With the present project, LEA India continues to demonstrate its ability to deliver groundbreaking infrastructure solutions that benefit the nation. The upgrade of the Ahmedabad-Mehsana Road will significantly enhance mobility and connectivity in the state of Gujarat and adjacent regions. This corridor is one of the busiest routes in the state and is part of the Bharatmala project, a flagship initiative of the Government of India which lies within the influence zone of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). It also connects a few major and minor ports in Gujarat, underscoring its vital role in regional and national transportation. Recognizing the strategic importance of the Ahmedabad-Mehsana Road for commercial traffic between Gujarat, Rajasthan and northern India, as well as its role in driving industrialization in Northern Gujarat, LEA India was tasked with preparing a comprehensive report for its rehabilitation and upgrade.
The report covers:
The report also includes detailed highway design, pavement and overlay specifications, service roads, grade separators, bridge designs, cross drainage structures, ITS interventions etc. Additionally, it encompasses cost estimates, financial analysis and environmental and social feasibility. The services started in August 2023 and now, the Draft DPR has been prepared with an estimated project cost of INR 12 billion. The Draft DPR is under review by the client, Gujarat Road and Infrastructure Company Limited, which is promoted jointly by the Government of Gujarat.
