LEA was selected by the Region of Peel to develop the strategy and design for ITS, traffic signals, transit signal priority, security and transit lighting systems for the Hurontario-Main Light Rail Transit (HLRT) project. The project is one of the planned light rail projects being funded by the Regional Transportation Authority, Metrolinx, as part of The Big Move plan. The HLRT will connect the cities of Brampton and Mississauga with dedicated LRT lanes along the 20km north-south core. The proposed “urban-style” HLRT corridor would be fully integrated with the surrounding streetscape. As part of the preliminary design, LEA was extensively involved in stakeholder consultations and workshops to inform and obtain feedback for the design and concept of operations. LEA developed reports and drawings in the form of an ITS Strategy, Preferred Concept, and Preliminary Design for the elements along the corridor, as well as the Maintenance and Storage Facility. The various design elements are comprised of: ITS
