Steeles Avenue East Bridge Environmental Assessment

Client: City of Toronto
Location: Canada
Status: Completed

Project Description

In partnership with Metrolinx and York Region, the City of Toronto engaged LEA to lead the Steeles Avenue East Bridge Environmental Assessment Study.

As part of this EA study, stormwater management analyses, assessment of municipal services (storm, sanitary and watermains), identification of municipal servicing upgrades, and utilities relocation was undertaken for a series of alternatives including both underpass and overpass options. Specifically, the project reviewed, assessed, and proposed relocations for a 1350mm trunk watermain, stormwater management system including a major retention tank and pumping station, and a 675mm trunk sanitary sewer, in addition to proposing new minor watermain distribution connections for adjacent properties. In addition to the municipal services, the EA also evaluated alternatives relating to traffic operations, active transportation connectivity, transit operations, and bridge design for both rail and pedestrian traffic.
