Highway 27 Canada Pacific Rail Bridge Replacement and Road Widening

Project Description

LEA was retained by York Region to provide site supervision on the Canadian Pacific Rail (CPR) bridge replacement which reached its end of service life, as well as road widening along Highway 27, in the City of Vaughan. Once completed, this bridge will provide safe and efficient access for both vehicles and pedestrians, and accommodate future growth.

The Highway 27 CPR bridge replacement and road widening from Martin Grove Road to Rutherford Road included a 1 km track diversion for construction of the south bridge while maintaining a live train on the existing bridge.

The project included:

  • Reconstruct 340 m rail track including subgrade and ballast
  • Reconstruct 400 m of Highway 27 including storm sewers, sidewalk, retaining wall and land streetscaping
