Corporate Social Responsibility

At LEA, we strongly believe in giving back to the communities in which we work. By being involved with different events and charities, we contribute to the growth of communities beyond engineering and planning.

For over seven decades, LEA has remained a preferred development partner of dynamic, emerging economies globally. Beyond driving economic change, LEA embraces its responsibility to do more through volunteering, financial contributions and collaborations with nonprofits, bringing comfort, optimism and lasting impact to the regions where it operates. LEA Canada and LEA India are united in contributing to the greater good, each in its unique way.

LEA Canada emphasizes environmental sustainability and diversity, encouraging eco-friendly practices and fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. One example is our Women at LEA group, which fosters connections, provides mentorship and supports career development. Meanwhile, LEA India spends a portion of their profit on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as per a legal framework. Their CSR initiatives address areas such as hunger eradication, education promotion, gender equality and environmental protection. Together, both the operating companies of LEA work towards a common goal of giving back to the communities in which they work.

Protecting the Planet

As a global organization, we encourage our employees to take the greener route to make a positive change in the world and decrease our environmental footprint. That’s why LEA has implemented sustainable practices such as electronic recycling programs across operations and Staples Canada x Terracycle’s instrument recycling program. Our employees actively engage in the community through initiatives such as the annual Earth Day Spring Clean Up and tree planting events on World Environment Day, helping to create a greener environment for all. Additionally, we partner with not-for-profit entities like Aaranyak in Assam, India for educational interactions of children on ecological sustainability through tours of wildlife sanctuaries.

Rising to the Challenge

We strive to make every step we take meaningful, benefiting both our employees' fitness and well-being and the community around us. Each year, our employees enthusiastically embrace physical challenges and fundraising efforts to support a number of charitable causes, such as the CN Tower WWF Climb for Nature, Medanta Delhi Half Marathon, Jumpstart Charity, Orbis Plane Pull for Sight, Mattamy Homes Bike for Brain Health, Community Cricket Match supporting government initiative for supporting sports – Hello India, Khelo India – and Toronto Zoo Oasis Run.

Embracing Diversity

LEA is committed to strengthening diversity whether it's within our workforce or otherwise. Through partnerships with nonprofit organizations such as Niharkana Rehabilitation Center (West Bengal), Ramakrishna Ashram (New Delhi), Rainbow Foundation India (Patna) and Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee (West Bengal), LEA has been promoting gender equality through initiatives such as education through the years for girls and young women including healthcare support, employable skill development, and establishing hostels for distressed women and orphans. These facilities provide safe environments, ensuring access to education, healthcare, and opportunities for personal development. Addressing specific needs such as providing safe environments and ensuring access to education, healthcare, and opportunities for personal development, empowers the marginalized, thus fostering inclusivity and equality. This holistic approach not only enhances individual lives but also contributes to a more diverse, equitable, and cohesive society.

Supporting Local Communities

We are dedicated to giving back to our communities and have partnered with local charities to support a diverse range of impactful causes. Our Canadian team actively supports the local community through hands-on efforts, including volunteering at food kitchens, participating in the CanstructionTO competition to donate non-perishable food to the Daily Bread Food Bank, and competing in the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers Hockey Tournament. Outside of Canada, our commitment to community welfare includes supporting healthcare, skill development, education, empowerment of the specially-abled, relief and rehabilitation and road safety awareness. Since 2015, our team in India has collaborated with over two dozen NGOs, significantly contributing to community development. Notably, during the 2020 pandemic lockdown, we disbursed Rs 1 million for free ration distribution, demonstrating our dedication to aiding those in need during critical times. Similar outreach efforts are carried out by our teams working across Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Empowering the Next Gen

We believe that children are the future and that access to education is crucial for all. LEA is committed to investing in the next generation in every possible way. Previously, we have supported Indigenous education by donating to Indspire and renovating the Zebidayo Kibukka Memorial Nabutitti Primary School in Uganda, benefiting over 400 students. At LEA, we also run a robust internship program, providing students with mentorship and valuable work experience to help kickstart their careers.
